A "table" in a data warehouse is a promise: rows you write are the rows everyone reads, a query never sees half a write, yesterday's mistake can be rolled back, and adding a column does not corrupt three years of history. Object storage makes no such promise — S3 gives you dumb bytes behind a key-value API, and a directory of Parquet files is not a table, no matter how tidy it looks. …
